r5.jpgThis restaurant’s name is Spanish for the Indian turmeric plant, but instead of preparing Indian food, they specialize in contemporary Spanish cuisine. Close to San Ildefonso Church and the Museo de los Concilios, this establishment, once a confectionery, still conserves elements such as the 19th century ornate ceilings and a 100-year-old painting by Jose Lera, to which they have added modern objects and a wood-burning stove. The main dishes offered here are traditional, but the unique starters don’t fit any regional tradition or definition. Módena-style venison carpaccio and marzipan mousse with orange marmalade are some of the specialities guests can enjoy. They also prepare set menus for groups at special prices.
